Shopping tab

I have seen several people have a No Shop day, and have tried such myself, however, to no avail. Yesterday I was out of formula and today I was out of diapers. Now today would normally be my grocery shopping day, but my son had a birthday party to go to and the drive there is almost an hour away. So in order to make it in time, there was no time for that fun grocery shopping day....I do have enough on hand to make it to Monday, yeah, since I HATE grocery shopping on the weekends. Of course, I did run out of diapers, so I had to shop today, and thanks to Walgreens sale, I stocked up on Huggies.
I bought 3 packs of huggies @ 9.54 ea 28.62
less 10 off 30 (I bought scotch tape to bring it up to 30) & $4.00 manuf. coupon =14.62
plus I have my rebate of $5 from huggies ready to go in the mail...
Grand total for 3 packages of diapers (2 sets of size 3, 1 of size 4, 116 diapers in all)....
$9.62 plus tax!!! That's .08 a diaper each!
Do I seem overly excited??? Such is life of a MOM!
So, I will wait until Tues of next week and see if I can make it at least 2-3 days of NO SHOP. Do you do this? How do you keep from it? I am always looking for great ideas to entertain my zoo...

If you haven't seen Miss Potter yet, put it on your Netflix list. Sweet story:)

Online Surfing

Well, it's another morning in Paradise. I do love living in Florida, we're heading out now to go swimming and have a picnic for the day. Of course, before I go, I must surf! Online of course. We are going on vacation this fall and I'm trying to see how much I can earn from stuff online vs paying out of pocket. So far I've found tickets to a park we're going to for about 1/2 price on eBay, close to earning a $50 gc from Mypoints, and I just discovered InboxDollars. I'm up to $6 already and I've only been signed up for about 3 days.. I think I'll keep a log and see how I do online and mystery shopping (I only go to places VERY close to my house do to high gas prices). Sign up at Mypoints.com or InboxDollars.com today and earn free money with me!

New Baby Smell

There's nothing like it! My sis-in-law brought over their new baby girl, a whole 14 days old. I got to hold her all evening, well worth missing dinner over. It's not like I don't have a whole slew of kids, but there's nothing like that new baby smell. So soft and sweet, and their worst cry is minor compared to the 11 yr old hollerin' to the 3 year old!
Since we're on the subject of babies, I love Huggies diapers and wipes. I usually buy the 360 wipes from Wal-Mart for 8.97, hopefully less with a coupon, but does anyone know of someplace else with a better deal? With 2 still in diapers/pull-ups, we do go thru a lot of them.....

PS---thanks to all for keeping me in line. I balanced my checkbook tonight.

Dinner Ahead!

My kids just got up from the breakfast table (blueberry pancakes, yummy), and already they are asking about dinner. Being the scatterbrain that I am, I love Donna Young Printables. They're FREE, easy to use, and they keep me in line. Some days of homeschooling rob me of what little brain cells I have left, and I the thought of dinner makes me grumpy. However, when my menu board is up I just have to see what I'm fixing and I get get my act together for the day. I put it in a page protector and use a dry erase marker. It has reduced our eating out ALOT---We were going out at least 7-10 meals a week. Blows that budget I created. And since we are eating home more, I get to make some of the more expensive meals that I love but didn't buy because of the cost. My kids are little enough at this point they love to eat at the "Little Diner" (our dining room). I light candles, bring out the fancy napkins, and put some great background music on. I do have to clean up, but usually everybody helps.

It's morning:(

Well, night came and went with just a small amount of sleep gotten. I've moved the final little boy upstairs to his room, (he's been sleeping in our room in a little crib), and he's not happy about it! I've not slept all night long in many years, wonder what it's like?!?

On another note, I can't stop spending! HELP!!!! It's always for great deals, but how great can it be when I'm spending the phone bill?!? We've done so well this past year paying off credit cards (I miss the reckless spending, but not the bill) and we are heading in the right direction, but in the last 3 or 4 months, I've not been balancing my checkbook daily. I hereby swear to balance daily......that is, now that you are out there holding me accountable!!!
PS--the only smart thing I've been doing is funding my Prosper account. That small amount of money I would have blown is actually drawing interest, and helping another out...what more can one ask!

I'm a virgin...

That is, to blogging! I read random people blogs every night and I think it's time to start my own!
My life entails:
One handsome husband
4 beautiful and busy children
Homeschooling
Saving money (or do I mean spending money??)
and of course, living the good life in Sunny Florida.
I think that's it for tonight. I will post random thoughts tomorrow.
