My Menu Board

Perusing home dec blogs out there put me in a crafty mood. I have admired menu planner boards for a long time, but most of the projects out there are too complicated for my short attention span. I found one here at Ollibird that I thought I could work with. I of course could have made it easy and just used hers, but I recently broke down and bought a Cricut and am now obligated to use it! Hindsight I would have changed a couple of things (not in love with the border choice, and I probably could have matched borders up) but overall am a happy camper. Now I can just take a quick pic on the way to the grocery store and have my list already made out!

Happy New Year!

Happy new year! This was the first year my hunny has been home for New Years in about 8 yrs. Not wanting to go out, we decided to have a little in-house party. To make it fun (and hopefully less asking on when it will be midnight) I put together our countdown bags. Starting at 8pm the kids were able to open one bag. I included some things we had around the house and a couple of items from the dollar store. That way each hour was filled with an activity, keeping us busy until the very end. The kids had a great time and it helped us big folks stay awake (in the end Aidan missed the ball drop by about 15 min-he was out cold). I'm sure I have started something and will probably be expected to do the same next year:)

Game time, puzzle competition and singing karaoke was some of the fun that night. I actually over packed some of the bags and we barely had time to finish what was in them before the hour was up. Scratch and Sniff

No, it's not Aidan's diaper:) Although once all the colors meld together it is a rather disgusting color..
It's playdough! Kool-aid play-dough to be exact. The house smells yummy..and since I realized exactly how much sugar goes into a gallon of the colorful drink, playdough is the only form of the stuff that usually enters our doors. This is a recipe that though we've made dozens of times, it's still a favorite.

Kool-Aid Playdough

Ingredients:

1. 1 1/4 cup flour
2. 1/4 cup salt
3. 1 pkg unsweetened Kool-aid (just the dry koolaid, don't mix it into juice)
4. 1 cup boiling water
5. 1 1/2 Tbsp vegetable oil
6. 1 tsp cream of tarter

Directions: 1. In a bowl, mix flour, salt and kool-aid. 2. Stir in water and oil 3. Knead with hands for about 5 minutes. 4. Store in ziploc bag for up to 2 months. 5. Use like playdough. 6. Smells wonderful and takes on the color of the koolaid.

Garry is MIA in these photos. He spent last night at church at a lock in. He's catching up on his sleep as he went to bed about 4am and got back up at 6. However, judging by his 3 red fingernails (he was a bit irritated), I forgot to tell him NOT to go to sleep at all at the lock-in!!!

Last minute Easter craft

Hours of frivolous reading blogs while watching the 1st season of 24 (I'm slow, but I'm finally getting around to watching it, thanks to Netflix instant streaming!) and came across this cute Easter wreath. Since it's just me and the 2 little boys at the moment, I thought I would whip this out quickly. I already had everything needed, and several burned fingers later, it's finished! I think I could use a bow or some flowers (still undecided), but I think it looks pretty cute anyway!

Isn't it cute? I have one more to make to put up on my french doors--maybe after all go to bed. I want to use the last of the sunshine to finish another project!
